NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 22-year-old Queens man has been arrested in connection with two armed robberies carried out in the borough within minutes of each other, police said Friday as they search for his accomplices.
Anthony Myers is charged with robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and harassment for his role in the April 13 holdups in Queens Village.
While Myers was busted, his three accomplices — all believed to be in their teens or early twenties — are still on the lamb, cops said.
According to police, in the first incident around 11:02 p.m., Myers and three other young men entered 7 Star Jamaica Deli Corp., located at 214–57 Jamaica Ave., and demanded money.
One suspect pistol-whipped a 38-year-old man in the hand with the firearm. The crooks proceeded to jump behind the counter, where they removed $2,800 from the register. They then fled in a silver Kia Optima. The victim refused medical attention.
The group entered Simply Organic Deli & Grill, located just down the block at 210-25 Jamaica Ave., and demanded money about five minutes later. One of the suspects brandished a gun while another punched a 17-year-old man in the face.
The suspects proceeded to go behind the counter and remove $1,000 from the register. They then left in the car that was last seen heading north on the Clearview Expressway.
It wasn't immediately clear if the victims were employees or customers.
