The 37-year-old victim was in his car near 92nd Street and Elmhurst Avenue in Jackson Heights around 2:45 a.m. Sunday when two men rushed up on foot.
One of the men pulled a gun as he and his accomplice demanded the victim’s car keys, police said.
The men then hopped in the car and tried to flee in it, but the victim still had his key fob and was able to stop them from driving away.

The victim confronted the thieves as they sat in his car. Video shows him pulling open the driver’s door as the gunman fires shots at close range from the backseat. The victim was not struck by any bullets.
The pair eventually gave up on stealing the car and instead grabbed the victim’s cellphone from inside the vehicle and fled on foot, police said.
The victim suffered tinnitus but did not require medical attention at the scene, police said.
