NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police released new video Wednesday of a suspect in an unprovoked attack on a 70-year-old Sikh man, who was punched in the face as he walked to a Queens temple this week.

The victim was attacked around 6:45 a.m. Sunday at 95th Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard in South Richmond Hill.

Police said a man came up and punched him in the face in an unprovoked assault.

The victim was wearing traditional Sikh articles of faith at the time of the attack, police said. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.

The victim has reportedly been in the U.S. for only two weeks and was on his way to the Gurdwara Sikh Temple Society.

United Sikhs, a nonprofit organization, tweeted photos showing the bloodied victim after the attack. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, a politician in India, urged the U.S. Embassy in India to "ensure justice" in the case.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was treated and later released.

The suspect, who fled on foot, was captured by a surveillance camera in the area, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
