NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – One subway rider was punched in the face and another had the chain ripped off his neck over the past week in a robbery spree in Manhattan and Queens.
The NYPD released images of a suspect Wednesday as they investigate the spree, which has so far been linked to one robbery on the Upper East Side and another in Astoria.
The first robbery was last Friday morning at the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street station.
A 30-year-old man was standing on a northbound Q train platform at 1:20 a.m. when a man came up and snatched his wallet, police said. The thief then punched the victim in the face before fleeing with the stolen wallet.
Three days later on Monday, another 30-year-old man was standing on the southbound R platform of the 46th Street station in Astoria at 3:10 p.m. when a man ripped a chain from his neck and fled, police said.
Neither victim was seriously injured, according to cops.
