NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A homeless man linked to two other sex attacks, was arrested and charged after a woman was raped, choked and robbed Thursday morning as she was out for a jog in the West Village, police said.
Carl Phanor, 29, was charged Thursday with rape, sexually motivated robbery, robbery, grand larceny, strangulation, predatory sexual assault and a criminal sex act.
The 43-year-old woman was jogging in Hudson River Park near Pier 45, just before 6 a.m. when Phanor came up from behind her and allegedly grabbed her.
Phanor choked her, causing her to partially lose consciousness, and then knocked her to the ground, where he removed her clothing and raped her, police said.
The 29-year-old then stole her wallet, debit card, cellphone and headphones, according to police.
The victim managed to flag down another jogger, who called 911.
She was taken in stable condition to Lenox Health Greenwich Village.
Phanor was arrested at Port Authority Bus Terminal after police said he used the victim's credit card.
Police said Phanor is the same man who raped and robbed a 39-year-old woman jogging near Pier 40 on March 27.
Investigators believe he is also behind the Oct. 6 attempted rape and robbery on a 48-year-old woman walking northbound the FDR Drive service road at East 37rd Street.
Phanor was charged Thursday in connection to those incidents as well.
The NYPD told ABC 7 that Phanor has around 18 priors for assault and criminal possession of stolen property, among other crimes.
