Woman, 80, beaten to floor of UES subway train in unprovoked attack; suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 80-year-old woman was pummeled to the floor of a subway train on the Upper East Side over the weekend, police said as they released new video of a man they're searching for.

The NYPD released video and images of a suspect Tuesday following Saturday evening's unprovoked attack.

The victim was aboard a northbound 6 train at the 68th Street–Hunter College station around 4:30 p.m. when a man came up and started pummeling her, police said.

The man hit the victim repeatedly on her head, back and shoulder, causing her to fall to the floor of the train, according to police.

He then fled the train at the Lexington Avenue/59th Street station.

Surveillance video shows the suspect, believed to be in his early 40s, hopping a turnstile of the station and sauntering away.

The victim refused medical attention at the station.
