NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 91-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver outside her Brooklyn home last week, police said Thursday as the search for her killer continued.

Margie Salter, of Canarsie, was struck by a light-colored sedan just before 7 p.m. on Dec. 29 on Rockaway Parkway, right outside her apartment building at the Bay View Houses.

NYPD officers responding to a 911 call found her lying on the roadway with a head injury.

She was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she died on Sunday.

Investigators believe the sedan’s driver was traveling southbound on Rockaway Parkway when the vehicle struck Salter as she was attempting to cross Rockaway Parkway mid-block north of Skidmore Avenue.

Salter was thrown to the ground and suffered mortal wounds, police said.

The driver took off and was last seen headed southbound on Rockaway Parkway, according to police.

No arrests have been reported as the investigation continues.
