NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A woman was arrested in the stabbing frenzy that left an Upper East Side juice shop worker in critical condition last week, police said Wednesday.

Chala Jamison, 23, of Midtown, was charged with attempted murder and burglary, one week after she allegedly knifed the employee on April 12 inside of Juice Island at E. 61st Street and Third Avenue.

The brutal attack unfolded around 8:30 p.m. as she and the worker, a 39-year-old man, argued in the business.

During the dispute, Jamison allegedly grabbed a knife off the counter and stabbed him in the head, neck, back and hands.

The victim was rushed to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

The United Bodegas of America said Tuesday that the victim is an Ecuadorian immigrant who was stabbed by a customer who refused to pay for her juice.

They said he has since been released from the hospital but is "lucky to be alive."

"No amount of bail should be granted for this type of crime," the group said in a statement urging Jamison to be remanded.

The owner of Juice Island told the New York Post last week that he was thinking about closing up shop after several assaults there. "I don’t want to take the chance anymore," he said.
