NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman thought to have been kidnapped off a Brooklyn street last week turned out not to be a victim at all, police said Monday.
The incident early Friday led to an investigation by the NYPD's Major Case Squad, which determined that the pair knew one another and that there was no evidence of a crime.
Police had released surveillance images of the Toyota minivan and the man suspected of abducting the woman around 1:45 a.m. near Avenue W and Stillwell Avenue in Gravesend.
Witnesses called 911, but by the time authorities arrived, the man and woman were gone, the Daily News reported.
By Saturday, no one had reported a missing loved one or acquaintance matching the woman's description to police, and the NYPD eventually concluded that the incident was not what it appeared to be.
