NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A woman who stabbed her roommate to death for playing music too loud in their Manhattan shelter turned herself in on Tuesday, police said.
Charmaine Crossman surrendered at the 69th Precinct stationhouse in Canarsie, sources told the Daily News.
Crossman was charged with murder, police say, after she stabbed 27-year-old Victoria Goode multiple times inside the Project Renewal Shelter on East 45th St. near Third Avenue on Friday night. The 42-year-old was identified by police a day after the killing.
Shelter residents told the paper that Crossman shared a room with Goode, and the two were always arguing.
"Victoria is young, likes to have fun, play music, smoke a little pot," said shelter resident Toye Paulia. "Charmaine is older so she told her to please turn down the music and Victoria said no and when she said no, they started arguing. Victoria went off about the music."
A fight between the pair started in their room before it moved into the hallway by the laundry room.
Cops responded to a 911 call and found Goode in a sixth-floor hallway with multiple stab wounds. EMS rushed Goode to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue, where she was pronounced dead.
Police reportedly searched the building floor by floor but were unable to locate Crossman.
According to the sources, when she surrendered, she immediately demanded a lawyer and refused to speak about the crime.
Her arraignment was pending in Manhattan criminal court on Wednesday.
