NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A worker was rescued from the water near the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island during the Tuesday morning rush, officials said.

The FDNY and the NYPD were among those involved in the rescue, which was reported at 9:15 a.m. and led to a heavy response.

The man fell into the water next to the pier near the National Lighthouse Museum.

He's said to be a worker in the area, although it's unclear if he worked on the pier or somewhere else.

He was then taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, an FDNY spokesperson said.

He was conscious when he was rescued from the water, according to SILive.com, but his condition wasn't immediately clear.
