RIVER EDGE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New York man was arrested this week after he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child who he contacted on social media, authorities announced on Thursday.

Eric Palese, 27, of Tarrytown, NY was charged with six counts of second-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, who was under the age of 16 at the time, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

The prosecutor’s office received a tip on Monday that Palese had reached out to the child via a social media platform and sexually assaulted the victim in River Edge, Musella said.

An investigation revealed that Palese sexually assaulted the child, who was under the age of 16 at the time, in River Edge on more than one occasion.

As a result of the investigation, Palese was arrested in Tarrytown on Tuesday and held at the Westchester County Jail pending extradition to New Jersey.
