YONKERS, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A man was fatally struck while crossing the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers as heavy rain pummeled the New York region early Friday.
The man, who Yonkers Police say was in his 40s, was crossing the southbound lane of the parkway near Odell Avenue around 2:45 a.m. when he was hit by a Honda Pilot.
Police said the victim was rushed to St. John’s Riverside Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene. No charges were immediately filed, or summonses issued, in the crash.
The accident happened as rain and wind from a winter storm pounded the New York area.
It wasn't immediately clear if the weather conditions caused the fatal crash.
