ROSELLE, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A mother and daughter were found dead —reportedly axed to death — inside their Roselle home on Wednesday, authorities said.
Atasha Scott, the homeowner's sister, told NBC New York that the victims were killed by 9-year-old Kelsey's uncle, the brother of the homeowner.
Scott said that the uncle — who'd been asked to leave the home on West 7th Avenue — used an axe from the garage to kill his sister and his niece, who would have turned 10 years old on Sunday.

On Wednesday, the homeowner reportedly returned from work to find both dead. Scott said her brother discovered the axe hidden between mattresses, saw bloodied sheets and called police.
The murdered woman's BMW, which Scott said she had just purchased a week ago, was then stolen by the uncle.
The brand-new BMW was tracked to Maryland, and the uncle was arrested on a vehicle theft-related charge, a source told the station.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office said further details about the homicides would later be released.
Roselle schools were temporarily locked down Wednesday, but the lockdown was lifted in the afternoon, WBC-7 reported. Authorities noted that there is no threat to the public.
Investigators were seen outside the home Thursday amid reports of the slayings there.
