NEWARK, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man is facing up to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of robbing a cab company in 2019 , officials announced Friday.

The federally prosecuted crime occurred on Sept. 23, 2019 when 46-year-old Newark resident Alfuquan Turner entered Harrison Cab Company armed with a knife, authorities said.
With his head covered in a plastic bag and a knife displayed, Turner demanded money from the cab company’s dispatcher, court documents show.
The victim told Turner there was no money in her office but he kept making threats and demands, eventually attempting to stab the victim as she fought back.
Turner stole the victim’s cell phone and tried to leave but the victim stopped him to try and get it back. He then hit her in the face, pushed her to the ground, and asked her if she wanted to die before choking her until she lost consciousness, officials said.
After assaulting the victim, Turner stole her jewelry, cell phone, and other items.
Turner was found guilty of Hobbs Act robbery after a four day trial. He is scheduled for sentencing in October.
