TOMS RIVER, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey man was sentenced to 15 years in state prison on Thursday for repeatedly stabbing a woman in an Ocean County hotel lobby.
Carles Bryant, 36, stabbed the victim in the head, face, and body on March 3, 2021, around 10:30 p.m., at the Howard Johnson by Wyndham in Toms River, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said Friday.
She was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and eventually released. The relationship between Bryant and the victim wasn't immediately clear.
Prosecutors said Bryant then fled, but he was arrested in Atlantic City on March 19, 2021.
He has been held in the Ocean County jail since then and pleaded guilty last September.
Bryant will be eligible for parole after serving at least 12 years and nine months in prison, prosecutors said.
