SELDEN, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police arrested a man on Tuesday for allegedly sexually propositioning a child then crashing into a pole on Long Island.

At approximately 3:25 p.m. an 11-year-old girl was approached by 28-year-old Zachary Chase as she was walking home from Selden Middle School.

According to officials, Chase ran up from behind the victim and made sexual propositions to her before she ran home.

Chase then left the scene in a car and struck a pole as he fled.

Following an investigation, officers arrested Chase at his home later that evening.

Chase, of Lake Grove, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
