OCEANSIDE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Detectives on Monday arrested a man in a 2022 shooting and robbery inside of a Long Island smoke shop, according to authorities.
Yunus Irwan, 19, is charged with attempted murder, two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of assault, conspiracy, criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal use of a firearm, and aggravated criminal possession of a weapon.
At 6 a.m. officials responded to 51-15 Reeder St. in Elmhurst, Queens where they located Irwan and placed him under arrest without incident.
According to officials, at 3:19 p.m. on March 6, 2022 Irwan entered Da Smoke Spot located at 230 Merrick Rd. in Oceanside and confronted a 26-year-old employee where an argument ensued.
Irwan displayed a handgun and discharged two rounds, striking the worker once in the chest, officials said.
He then fled the scene west on Merrick Road in a 2019 to 2021 red Acura SUV, police said.
The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Irwan was arraigned on Tuesday at a Hempstead court.
