RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A 61-year-old man was found fatally struck by "at least one vehicle" in a hit-and-run on the Long Island Expressway, authorities said Tuesday morning.
According to Suffolk County officials, at approximately 8 p.m., Robert Twiford, of Melville, was hit off a Long Island Expressway off ramp at Exit 60 in Ronkonkoma.
The vehicle drove off and Twiford was found "lying in the roadway", police said.
Twiford was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
