HOLBROOK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- A Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol officer helped a woman who had given birth to a baby girl on the side of a Long Island highway Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, Highway Patrol Officer Jesse Wenk responded to a 911 call of a woman who delivered a baby in her car on the side of westbound Sunrise Highway, west of exit 50 in Holbrook, just before at 4:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, Officer Wenk found 26-year-old Diana Suarez had just delivered the baby girl.
Officer Wenk aided Suarez and helped warm the baby with a jacket, ensuring the infant’s vitals were stable while waiting for the Holbrook Fire Department Ambulance to arrive.
