SHIRLEY, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian on Sunday night, authorities said.
At approximately 10:55 p.m., Osmin Yavani Montoya Moreno, 37, was crossing the roadway from west to east in front of 507 William Floyd Parkway when he was struck by a northbound 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, authorities said.
Montoya Moreno was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 33-year-old driver of the Jeep remained at the scene and was not injured.
The Jeep was impounded for a safety check.
