NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A teen was indicted after breaking into a Long Island woman’s home, raping her in front of her 4-year-old daughter and then stabbing her, the Suffolk County District Attorney announced Monday.

The 14-year-old, along with an accomplice who has yet to be arrested, broke into the 23-year-old victim’s Mastic Beach home on April 19 around 3:15 p.m. through an unlocked window, officials said.
The pair searched the house looking for items to steal when they came upon a locked bedroom door which they kicked open, authorities said.
Inside of the bedroom was the victim and her daughter. While one the thieves looked around the room for property to take, the other sexually assaulted and strangled the woman with her daughter close by, according to officials.
The sexual assault continued after the teen forced the victim to the hallway before he dragged her back to the bedroom and went after her daughter. The victim fought to stop him from taking her daughter so the attacker took the victim again, forcing her to another bedroom where he pulled a switchblade knife out, authorities said.
After showing the victim the knife, he slashed her across the head and forehead with it before stabbing in the chest, the district attorney said.
Both of the thieves fled the scene after the stabbing. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for her several injuries.
“Aside from the extreme violence of the criminal activity, what makes this case so shocking is the age of the defendant who is accused of committing such callous and violent crimes,” said District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney. “It is becoming increasingly common to hear of violent cases like this involving minors as the perpetrators of such vicious acts. Despite this, we will make sure justice is served. Those responsible for this horrific attack on the victim and her child will be called to answer to the law and they will be held accountable.”
The teen admitted to the crimes on April 21 and faces multiple charges including rape, sexual assault, burglary and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned on Monday in Suffolk County Youth Court with his next court appearance scheduled for June 2.
