YONKERS (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Two teens were arrested after they beat and stabbed a fellow student at a Yonkers high school on Friday morning, police said.
The 16-year-old victim was attacked in a boys bathroom at Yonkers Middle High School on Rockland Avenue around 8:40 a.m.
Two students, both 17, assaulted the younger teen during a dispute in the second-floor bathroom.
As the argument escalated, they punched and kicked him. One of them then stabbed him with a knife, police said.
School security quickly responded and broke up the fight, and a knife was recovered at the scene, according to police.
The victim was transported to an area trauma center in stable condition.
Police said his injuries were severe enough that he had to undergo surgery to treat them.
Both of his attackers were arrested and are expected to be charged with felony assault, police said. They have not been identified due to their ages.
Police are investigating a motive for the attack.
The school resumed normal operations, and there is no threat to public safety, police said.
