Why there are leadership concerns with Hawks just three games into season

The Atlanta Hawks are only three games into their season but after a disappointing loss to Charlotte where some players say the team didn’t take the Hornets seriously Dukes & Bell talked about there once again being leadership questions inside the team’s locker room.

Carl talked about Dejounte Murray owning the team’s lack of focus against Hornets.

“I hear Trae Young saying ‘y’all ain’t gonna put this on me’,” Dukes said. “If Trae comes out and says yea we really took them lightly, you know what everyone is gonna say? Well you’re the team leader, you’re the all-star, you’re the guy that’s supposed to be leading the way, why did they come out and take them lightly? Sometimes this happens and it’s early in the season, I think we have a really good team but who are we, are we gonna be a team when we get our but kicks and there’s gonna be plenty of those nights guys it’s a long year. That our star is gonna be like yea but I played great or it wasn’t about me or I didn’t say that. Dejounte Murray is putting it out there and saying look as a team we were garbage and we gotta be better.”

Bell said that he doesn’t hear Trae Young talking like a leader.

“I’m getting from Dejounte Murray accountability, ‘we took these guys for granted, they’re banged up, we got our asses kicked,” Bell said. “Trae basically said, ‘I don’t know about y’all but I got my twenty eight,’ that’s the way I heard it.”
