PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers receiver George Pickens said a few words Thursday involving his frustration during the Dallas game on Sunday. They weren’t expansive answers, as for what George said.

Eye black message

Pickens said Thursday it was ‘just eye black’ when asked why he wrote ‘open f---ing always’ on eye black placed right below his eyes and caught on national television.

Load management

Head coach Mike Tomlin explained a couple of times how they want to limit Pickens snaps to so he is better in the second half and later in the season.

“Ok with load management, just part of the game plan,” Pickens said. “It’s part of game structure, game plan and you know (offensive coordinator) Art (Smith) wants to do a certain type of play or a certain type of game plan, then it’s going to be different.”

More snaps

Asked how he could get more opportunities in the offense ‘it’s not on me, it’s all up to Art (Arthur Smith)’. He said he will keep working and does feel like he’s used effectively.

Throwing helmet

As for being spotted throwing his helmet in the second half on Sunday?

“When it’s third down and you don’t convert, a lot of fans are mad as well,” Pickens said.

New receiver

So many rumors about the Steelers interest in another receiver dating back to training camp. Would Pickens feel like they need to add another threat at receiver?

“I feel like the guys that are here are working hard every day,” Pickens said.
