The Steelers could be without the Defensive Player of the Year for potentially the season.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Watt will get an MRI to see the extent of the damage on Monday.
Watt came off the field late in the fourth quarter pointing to his underarm and could seen saying, “I tore my pec.”
Rapoport says surgery will be scheduled if Watt’s self-diagnosis is confirmed.
The amount of time he’ll be out is unknown but it will likely be an extended period, if not the season.
The good news is it’s the first game of the season and he is a Watt
Rapoport says there “He’s also J.J. Watt’s brother, we’ve seen J.J. Watt come back extortionary short amount of time from very season injuries, we’ll see perhaps if T.J. can get on the same schedule
If Watt is out for the season, the Steelers will need Malik Reed and Jamir Jones to rise to the occasion and hold it down until Watt is hopefully able to come back at some point in 2022.
