PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It doesn’t appear there will be a contract issue this year with Cam Heyward, the 36-year-old captain agreeing to a new two-year contract which also reduces the cap hit right now.
According to the Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, Heyward will get $32.25 million total in 2026 and 2027. The move will create $5.5 million immediately in cap space as the team looks to remain active in free agency.
Last August Heyward sat out most of training camp because of a contract dispute where Heyward believed he was promised more after his outstanding 2024. He was given a marginal raise and never missed any game time.
The 10-year captain had 78 tackles, most since 2021 last season, with 3.5 sacks, six passes defensed, nine tackles for loss, nine QB hits and a forced fumble.
The 2011 first-round pick will be entering his 16th NFL season.
