The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office announced today that Kim Gardner will leave her position as Circuit Attorney effective immediately. The announcement came via Twitter:
Gardner initially planned to resign on June 1, leading to speculation over motivation.
"Until she’s physically gone from that office she remains a public safety threat to St. Louis," Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey told Marc Cox last week.
Meanwhile, Governor Mike Parson met with St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones to discuss the needs of the Circuit Attorney's Office.
"We should be thinking about them [victims and families] as priority number one," Governor Parson told Marc Cox ahead of that meeting.
