Every neighborhood has that special house that goes all out decorating every holiday.

That one home in a neighborhood in Plainfield, Illinois created decorated their home in an elaborate homage to Stranger Things, but it wasn’t long before they were asked to take it all down.

Though they sought the permission of the other homes on the block to erect their display, after the decorations were put up, which included an amazing dummy of Max floating in the air, a neighbor complained about the unwanted attention the house was bringing to the rest of the neighborhood, and asked if the decorations be removed.

Aubrey Appel created the amazing display, and she told ABC7 in Chicago, “Everyone seemed OK with it, until they weren't.  It's upsetting, you know, to be told 'we support you. We're behind you. We understand why you are doing this' and to have that blow up in your face.”

The complaining neighbor has accused the Appels of “bringing negative attention to the neighborhood, endangering the community's children and making the neighborhood the target of possible home invasions because of all the spectators.”

Other neighbors, however, don’t seem to hold the same sentiment.

Neighbor Trina Mahon said, “It's so awesome.  They put so much work into it. The kids are always helping out. They think it is the most awesome thing and when they found out they were going to be getting closed, the daughter literally was crying so hard."

After meeting with village officials earlier this week, the Appels were informed the display would be ALLOWED to live!

The Joliet Police said they would keep an eye in the neighborhood just in case, and asked visitors to be mindful if they come to the display.

Sgt. Dwayne English of the Joliet Police Dept said, "I would encourage the public to, if they do travel there, to be mindful where they park.  Also be respectful of the property of others."
