Zac Efron has come clean about his fantastic physique from the 2017 film Baywatch.
Apparently, we should learn to lot believe everything we see, because the 34-year-old says that body simply isn’t “attainable.”
In a new interview with Men’s Health, Efron revealed the secret to attaining that amazing look: Lasix and powerful diuretics.”
Efron told the publication, “That Baywatch look, I don't know if that's really attainable. There's just too little water in the skin. Like, it's fake; it looks CGI'd. And that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. So I don't need to do that. I much prefer to have an extra, you know, 2 to 3 percent body fat."
Efron also wanted to make a point to raise awareness about the mental toll that amount of training had on his mental well-being. At the time of filming Baywatch, Efron says he was overtraining, eating the same three meals each day and not sleeping enough to keep up with the high level of energy he exerted keeping in shape for the film.
"I started to develop insomnia and I fell into a pretty bad depression, for a long time. Something about that experience burned me out," Efron said. "I had a really hard time recentering. Ultimately they chalked it up to taking way too many diuretics for way too long, and it messed something up."
Now, Efron has taken a completely new approach to his fitness, and touts stretching, yoga, massage guns, and ice baths as his core elements, along with being a “foam-rolling fanatic.”
He said, “[The ice bath is] my favorite part of the day. Before is when it's most miserable, and when you finally just commit and jump in there. From that point forward, you've conquered something deep within you; you do not want to get cold."
He added, "That's the simplest philosophy: Anything you don't want to do, make it a habit.”
