SLED and the State Fire Marshal's Office are joining the Cherokee County investigation of the predawn fire that trapped a man in his camper near a Gaffney supermarket.
A driver called 9-1-1 reporting flames visible near the Food Lion Store just after 5:00 a.m. The aluminum camper was ablaze end-to-end when firefighters located it near the store's parking lot.
There was no hope of rescue for anyone inside. The coroner pronounced the victim, 57-year-old Bobby Wade, dead at the scene.
