The family of a woman who was murdered in the Upstate is now filing suit against the suspects charged with the crime. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says 40 year old Colleen D'Ortona was found dead in Travelers Rest earlier this year.
A suspect, Michael Robert Clarkson, was arrested and charged with her murder. Investigators say the two had a relationship. Clarkson died after reportedly committing suicide before he was prosecuted.
He was allegedly having an affair with a woman named Cherith Crown who is charged with accessory after the murder and obstructing justice.
The victim's family is now suing Clarkson's family and Crown. The suit says they are seeking compensation for wrongful death, funeral expenses, lost wages and other damages.
