Staten Islander for life Pete Davidson is not only proud of his hometown, he’s also a proud dog dad.

The 27-year-old comedian and actor teamed with Smartwater recently to help launch the brand’s very first “Rehydration Day” dedicated to getting some of that good ol’ H2O back into Americans after the July 4th weekend. Speaking with PeopleTV, Davidson said getting involved with the campaign was one of the "smartest decisions” he’s ever made. Another smart decision… Getting himself a four-legged friend.

"I got a dog," Davidson said regarding the Havanese named Mabel he welcomed into his life and home, adding that she has been "great" for his anxiety – especially every time he walks in the door to her waiting eagerly for his return. Learning a lesson all dog-lovers know well, he says "It doesn't matter what happens to you because the dog will always be excited to see you. So that's something I've learned, which is really nice."

In his clip for Smartwater, Davidson jokes about getting his tattoos removed saying, "I've made a lot of questionable choices, and a couple of them need removing… But now I'm trying to make smarter choices, hydrating with Smartwater and stuff like that."

“Stuff like that,” meaning adorable, loving little Mabel, obvi.
