For years, cartoons have tried to convince people that stepping on a banana peel is as slippery as walking on ice. While bananas don’t usually cause as many falls in real life as they do on television, they did recently lead to quite a spill on a DFW highway. Earlier this week an 18-wheeler crashed on I-35, dumping 40,000 pounds of bananas onto the streets.

On Monday, an 18-wheeler packed with bananas was driving down I-35 near 635 when slippery roads caused the truck lose control and crash. The trailer detached from the cab and slid down an embankment, dumping bananas all over the road. According to Fox 4 News, it took a few hours to clear the 40,000 pounds of bananas the truck was holding from the highway.

Luckily, no one was injured from the crash. Authorities claimed the wet roads from rain over the weekend caused the crash. Hopefully no banana peels were left on the road, or more crashes could be coming.
