Many an evening (or very early morning) spent on Fry St. usually ended with a trip to Crooked Crust for many Denton residents.

Unfortunately, future members of the Mean Green nation will be unable to enjoy that 2am slice as Crooked Crust has closed its doors for good.

The restaurant announced its closure on Friday, citing rising costs and dropping sales, per WFAA.

Crooked Crust wrote on its website, “Rising food, labor, and operating costs combined with lower sales volume has made it impossible to continue in a responsible way.

"We’re choosing to close with dignity rather than compromise quality or our people. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who supported us over the years—guests, vendors, and especially our staff.

GoFundMe has been created by the employees at Crooked Crust who have suddenly found themselves out of a job following the, what sound like, a surprise closure.

The GoFundMe states, “Our team—made up of college students and young adults—worked hard to keep the doors open, even as we faced challenges behind the scenes.

Unfortunately, the owner was often absent and negligent, leaving us with little support or communication about the future of the restaurant."
