A pop-up vaccination clinic was held in downtown San Francisco on Thursday to encourage people — especially in the city's Black community — to get vaccinated.
In San Francisco about 80% of the eligible population has been vaccinated, but among the Black community that number is only 64%.

In Fillmore and Turk Mini Park, COVID-19 vaccinations were offered to anyone who wanted one with a promise from Mayor London Breed that she would hold their hand. "If you need me to hold your hand I'll hold your hand, I'll pat you on the back. I'll make sure you get through this," Breed said.
Cassie Cook was also at the pop-up clinic.
Her son was only in his early 50s when he died of COVID-19. She begged him to get vaccinated, but he wouldn't.
"My son is dead. I only have one child," Cook said. "I am burying him on Tuesday, I didn't get a chance to say goodbye."
Now she's appealing directly to Black men around her son's age to get their shots before it's too late.

For those who missed the chance to get vaccinated on Thursday, Maxine Hall Health Center is around the corner from Mini Park at 1181 Golden Gate Ave.
