On Monday, just after 1 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Elm Street on a report of a missing infant. The baby's grandmother told police that the baby was taken in a brief moment where she went outside her residence to unload groceries from her car.

Portillo had unlawfully entered the residence and kidnapped the infant during that time, according to police. Surveillance footage showed Portillo arriving to the residence holding a child's car seat.

The multi-agency investigation uncovered that the second suspect, Ramirez, is a family friend who had transported the victim and the victim's grandmother to run errands. Detectives decided to detain her as a person of interest when her statement kept changing. Sandoval was also identified as an additional suspect in the case and detained.

The charges against the three suspects may change as the investigation continues. The motive of the kidnapping is still unknown.

The baby was found the next day at Portillo's home healthy and unharmed. He has since been reunited with family members and has undergone medical examination.

The San Jose Police Department are asking anyone with information about the case to call (408) 277-4166.
