An 58-year-old San Jose woman was found dead at Point Reyes National Seashore on Monday morning, just over a day after she was last seen.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office said in a release Monday that Mitra Rasti was discovered at 6 a.m. at the base of a cliff near Arch Rock.
A cause of death has not been determined, according to the Sheriff's Office. The office's Coroner Division will conduct an autopsy and toxicology testing later this week.
Park rangers, Marin County Search and Rescue and Highway Patrol H30 began looking for her Sunday night, the National Parks Service said in a release earlier Monday. The Sheriff's Office said "a concerned family member" reported Rasti overdue at 9:37 p.m. on Sunday.
Rasti was last seen at Bear Valley Visitor Center at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the National Parks Service. After the family member's call, officials then started looking for her.
When first responders found Rasti, she was pronounced dead on the scene.
Since a person was killed and another was injured in Arch Rock's collapse on March 21, 2015, areas surrounding it have been closed to the public. The Bear Valley and Coast trails have been open, however, both of which were searched by Marin County Search and Rescue. Park rangers searched Bear Valley out to the coast.
