Cheryl Ann Yee, 27, is being held without bail in the Santa Clara County Main Jail after a Wednesday afternoon hearing, according to county court and corrections department records. The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office charged Yee with the murder of Christine Mei Cheng-Yee, 65, according to an office spokesperson.

The Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner, which hadn't yet identified the victim when KCBS Radio reported on the killing on Monday, confirmed to KCBS Radio on Thursday afternoon that Cheng-Yee was the victim.

Police said in a Monday release that Yee called 911 on Sunday afternoon to say she killed her mother. Officers responded to the 4800 block of Springdale Drive for a wellness check, finding a woman who had sustained "at least one stab wound." Police pronounced Cheng-Yee dead at the scene, taking Yee into custody "without incident."

Yee told dispatchers in her call she was hearing voices in her head, the paper reported, citing police. The Mercury News obtained the criminal complaint, which listed aggravating factors including that Yee "took advantage of a position of trust or confidence" in killing Cheng-Yee, the 65-year-old was "particularly vulnerable," the stabbing was planned and entailed "great violence” and that Yee is “a serious danger to society."

Yee is scheduled to appear in court again next Wednesday, according to court records. The district attorney's office told KCBS Radio in an email that her arraignment is held over until then.
