Allegheny County still in Phase 1A of COVID-19 vaccine distribution

COVID-19 vaccination continues in Allegheny County.

The county is still in Phase 1A of the vaccine distribution plan. The Health Department says they're trying to complete it as quickly as possible.

An email from the county stated, "Our region has a higher than average number of people who fall into Phase 1A just because we are home to so many health systems and related practices. The department has been managing requests from those entities since late December."

Since December, the Health Department has been working with health care providers to distribute the vaccine to those who qualify under the first phase of the roll-out plan and there are still more than 57,000 healthcare workers yet to be vaccinated.

The county said supplies of the vaccine from the Federal government fluctuates week to week, causing the delay in completing first phase vaccinations.
