This story is part of a bi-weekly series that celebrates people who are reaching across a divide to "build bridges" with those different from themselves. The Get Marty: Community Bridges series is made possible with the support of UPMC.
Did you know that losing a limb can take years off your life?
Think about that and the impact is staggering, especially with the growing number of people struggling with diabetes. Dr. Jessica Sciulli is a podiatric surgeon. She's also Medical Director for UPMC South and UPMC McKeesport Wound Healing Services.
Dr. Sciulli also serves a key role as co-director of the Limb Salvage Program. Watch the video on this page for our conversation about the program and how they're literally saving lives by helping people heal their wounds and keep from losing limbs to their conditions.
