In this UPMC Spotlight we're talking about heart health. In the video on this page, you'll see my discussion with UPMC Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Saul Silver.

Dr. Silver discusses some of the most common conditions he sees in patients and how advanced techniques and technology is changing how doctors treat patients.

Thanks to advances in screening technology, Dr. Silver says he is able to do fewer invasive procedures like cardiac catheterization. With advances in CT scanning, they can now get a clearer picture of what's going on in your arteries and whether or not you need some of these more invasive treatments.

When should you see a cardiologist? (From UPMC.com)

"You can visit a cardiologist at any time, especially if you experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, increased heartbeat, inconsistent heart rhythm, seizures and persistent fainting."
