It's a mistake that could affect over 100,000 people in Pennsylvania.
Apparently, some vaccine providers accidentally gave away the wrong shots.
"We discovered some providers inadvertently used the Moderna vaccine shipped to them intended as second doses, as first doses," said Department of Health Acting Secretary Alison Beam.
She says there are about 30,000 to 60,000 Pennsylvanians who will likely have to reschedule their second appointments one to two weeks later.
"By extending the time between doses, while remaining within CDC guidelines, we can minimize any disruption to first dose vaccinations."
The minimum time in between the first and second shot is 28 days and the maximum is 42.
As for first appointments, there could be 30,000 to 55,000 doses that providers expected that will not be delivered.
Beam would not say which providers made the mistake. And she said the error does not affect the Pfizer vaccine.
This latest snag in the state's rollout of the vaccine comes days after Governor Tom Wolf said the state needs to do better with getting the vaccine to those who are ready for it.
Earlier this month, Pennsylvania officials launched a new tool that allows residents to see if they're eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
