In an effort to improve community engagement, the Pennsylvania State Police have launched two new initiatives.

The Office of Community Engagement and the Community Access to Information Dashboard have been created.

"Pennsylvania State Police personnel are always considering and developing initiatives that will improve the department's transparency and community engagement," said Colonel Robert Evanchick in a release. "The development of the OCE and the CAID assists our department in strengthening in-person community relations and public access to statistical data."

State Police say the goal of the new community engagement office is to work with the community to "collaboratively identify and problem-solve local challenges to increase the safety of residents, visitors, and law enforcement."

They also say the dashboard will give the public access to State Police incident data providing transparency and giving the community "an ownership stage in their quality of life."

The dashboard website can be viewed here.
