RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KNX) — Authorities on Monday investigated a report of a dead body found in a pond on the grounds of La Sierra University in Riverside.
The body, confirmed dead by firefighters with the Riverside Fire Department, was reportedly discovered by university maintenance workers.
Firefighters left the body in the water after arriving and waited for the coroner to arrive at the scene.
"Law enforcement conducted a death investigation of an individual along campus property fronting a public street and determined at this time that no foul play is suspected," the University said in a statement.
The Riverside County Coroner is now working to determine the identity of the person and their cause of death, the University said, adding that no students or campus members have recently been reported missing.
