
LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Los Angeles police announced Saturday the arrest of a fifth suspect in connection with a string of follow-home robberies in L.A., Beverly Hills, Glendale, and Fontana, and the fatal shooting of a man outside a restaurant in Hollywood.
Marquis Ford, 24, of L.A., was arrested for his alleged involvement in the Nov. 23 shooting death of José Ruiz Gutierrez outside Hollywood’s Bossa Nova restaurant. For was booked on suspicion of murder and was being held in lieu of $2 million in bail, according to the LAPD.

Gutierrez, 23, was waiting in a car outside Bossa Nova in the 7100 block of Sunset Boulevard at around 2 a.m. when the woman riding passenger stepped out and was accosted by a group of men allegedly including Ford.
Police said the men attempted to rob the woman. Gutierrez, who was reportedly carrying a gun, then got out of the car to intervene. At that point, one or more of the suspects fired on Gutierrez, killing him, and fled the scene, according to the LAPD.
Authorities have additionally implicated Ford and four alleged accomplices present outside Bossa Nova on the night of Gutierrez’s death in a spate of follow-home robberies across L.A. County.
Suspects included Joshua Saulsberry, 21; Abraham Castillo, 20; Tyree Singleton, 20; and Sayon Sanders, 21. Sanders, Castillo, and Singleton have all been charged with murder, robbery, and attempted robery. Saulsberry has been charged only with robbery.
LAPD detectives recovered a gun, a replica gun, more than $30,000 in cash, handbags, a Rolex watch, and “gang paraphernalia” from vehicles believed to be used in the crimes, according to City News Service.
