Hours ahead of the deadline for SAG-AFTRA’s contract negotiations with Hollywood studios last Friday, the union agreed to extend the talks until June 12. But as the new deadline approaches, actors are getting ready to hit the picket lines.

According to Deadline, SAG-AFTRA sent an email to members over the weekend asking members to turn out at Wednesday’s Writers Guild of America picket line at CBS Radford. Actors are also working on picket signs and drawing up lists of strike captains and coordinators.

Last month, SAG-AFTRA members voted almost 98% in favor of authorizing a strike if contract talks failed. Although union president Fran Drescher told members that negotiations were going well, hundreds of actors signed a letter last week urging leadership not to compromise for the sake of avoiding a strike.

If the actors do go on strike, they’d join the writers’ union, which has already been picketing for over 60 days with no progress toward a deal.
