An intruder noticed inside a home on Chastain Parkway after 9 p.m. prompted a reported dog sitter to run out of the home pleading for help.

Someone reported hearing a gunshot, but authorities said no one was hurt.

Investigators believe the suspected burglar ran out of the home before officers arrived. The Los Angeles Police Department searched for the suspect by foot and police helicopter.

Police could not say yet if the suspect had stolen any property. Although the intruder remained at large, police did not release a description of the person.
