Expensive effort underway to repair historic building in San Clemente

San Clemente, Calf. (KNX) - Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens, a historic landmark and cultural center in San Clemente, was damaged by a landslide in April. The landslide caused significant damage to the Ocean Terrace, a popular gathering spot for tourists and locals alike.

The City of San Clemente has deemed the Ocean Terrace unsafe and has closed it to the public. However, other parts of the estate remain open, including the Casa Romantica House Museum, the Gardens, and the Library.

Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to operate. The landslide has caused significant financial hardship for the organization. In order to continue its programs and services, Casa Romantica is asking for the community's support.

You can support Casa Romantica by donating to the Spring Renewal Campaign, purchasing tickets to the Benefit Dinner and Concert: An Evening with Alicia Olatuja on May 11 at the Franciscan Gardens, or offer your time and talents as a volunteer.

Casa Romantica expressed gratitude for the community's support during this challenging time in a message from Executive Director Amy Behrens, "The outpour of care and concern from our community over the last few days has been a wonderful encouragement to our team. On behalf of all of us at Casa Romantica, I would like to personally express our heartfelt gratitude for the support that you have given us thus far."
