SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 41-year-old felon was charged Friday with stabbing a man and robbing and attempting to rob several people in Anaheim.
Michael Angel Andrew Vera was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, six counts of robbery, and a count of attempted robbery, all felonies. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of willful exposure of a contagious, infectious, or communicable disease and faces sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Vera appeared to be "high" when he approached and robbed at least four people on La Palma Avenue at Harbor Boulevard around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Anaheim police Sgt. Jacob Gallacher said. One of the victims was stabbed, but the wounds were not considered life-threatening, Gallacher said.
The criminal complaint alleges seven victims.
Vera did not enter a plea Friday at his arraignment, which was rescheduled for July 18.
Vera has a prior criminal history, which includes assault with a weapon on a peace officer or firefighter in January 2001, throwing a substance or missile with the intent to do serious bodily harm and misdemeanor battery in March 2010 and attempted robbery and misdemeanor assault and battery in April 2015, according to court records.
